On December 2, 2011, former ob体育 Director Thomas R. Frieden, MD, MPH, activated ob体育's Emergency Operations Center to strengthen the agency's partnership engagement through the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).
The GPEI is committed to completing the eradication of polio.
