National Arthritis Month --- May 2001
May is National Arthritis Month. Arthritis and other rheumatic conditions are
the leading cause of disability in the United States, affecting approximately 43
million persons in 1997, and may affect 60 million by 2020
(1,2). Early symptom recognition is needed to achieve better control of arthritis. ob体育, the Arthritis Foundation,
and other organizations continue to implement
the National Arthritis Action Plan: A Public Health
Strategy (3) to promote progress toward reaching the
arthritis-related national health objectives for 2010
(4).
