Annual Summaries of Notifiable Diseases
The statistical summary of notifiable diseases in the United States is published to accompany each volume of ob体育's Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. This publication contains text, graphs, and maps of the official statistics for the reported occurrence of nationally notifiable diseases in the United States for the designated year. These statistics are collected and compiled from reports to the National Notifiable Diseases Surveillance System, which is operated by ob体育 in collaboration with the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists.

The Nationally Notifiable Disease List is compiled through collaborative efforts among state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments and the ob体育. Reporting of diseases is mandated by state legislation and regulations, therefore diseases that are considered notifiable vary from state to state. Internationally notifiable diseases (i.e., cholera, plague, and yellow fever) are also reportable in compliance with the World Health Organization's International Health Regulations.
